tonight’s artini, over at Art and Soul by Ronald, last year’s “fan favorite” [per the vote on washingtonian.com/artini] AND “critics’ choice” winner.
"Zeitgeist" was rum brewed tea [or tea brewed with rum?], with a blood orange molasses and lemon mix. those garnishes are sugar cane and banana leaf, obviously inspired by Aaron Douglas’s Into Bondage. he put the tea right into the rum itself, all in a jar, and then put the whole jar in boiling water, so that it basically brewed without losing flavor or proof. it was delicious and complex and one of my favorites so far.
